Q: What is Indivisible? Where can I get more information on this movement?
A: Indivisible was formed after the 2016 election by two former congressional staffers, who created a practical guide on how to organize locally and pressure your elected officials to resist Trump’s agenda. It has developed into a nationwide grassroots movement with millions of members and thousands of local chapters. After Trump’s win in 2024, Indivisible pivoted, and has been fleshing out concrete strategies and tactics that collectively will help us limit harm, win back the House in 2026, and defeat MAGA in 2028. Q: What is “constituent power” ?
Excerpt from the Indivisible Guide: A Practical Approach to Democracy on the Brink: Why is a road paved or an education bill blocked or a state of emergency declared? Who gives electeds the right to do that? We do -- it’s our power that we lend them for a time. Then we reclaim that power and consider who to give it to next -- we call that an election. In between elections, we make the threat of retracting or the promise of reinvesting that power -- we call that accountability. We organize to help them achieve our goals, or we organize to be an enormous pain in their ass if we don’t like what they’re doing. Taken together, and you have what we call “constituent power.”
Q: I live further away .... can I still join?
A: We welcome people from any VT community though we encourage you to check out if other groups might be a better match. You can find or start a new group on Indivisble.org. (Browser tip: If you are using Chrome, you may have to clear your cache before the group map works, but you only have to do it once.) Some groups have different focus areas too, including Lean Left Vermont that focuses specifically on working on elections in other states and All in for Action Vermont that is designed for online meetings and virtual participation.
Q: Are there options for online meetings and doing things without in person gatherings and actions?
A: Indivisible All In For Action VT formed in Putney in early 2025 but will serve as an Indivisible community and convening space for folks who want to be involved and live in areas where there are no active groups. Email allinforactionVT@gmail.com for more information.

A: As a local Indivisible group, we seek to use our enormous constituent power to influence the decisions and actions of our Members of Congress, Governor, and Attorney General. Even in our mostly “blue state” of Vermont, our voices can have a significant impact on our elected officials. History has shown that in fighting fascists you must not relinquish your power, and we know that we have more power as an organized group than as individuals.
Q: What kinds of actions does Camel’s Hump Indivisible take?
A: We build community and strategically wield our group power through activities and actions such as the following:
- Monthly group meetings
- Frequent emails with timely and potentially impactful action items
- Committees organized around substantive issues
- Meetings with our elected officials and their staffers
- Collaborating with other Indivisible groups and similarly focused advocacy groups on large protest and other resistance activities.
Q: Can I post about the group on Front Porch Forum?
A: As for FPF, the leadership team is working on a strategic plan for a series of posts to help grow the movement and interest in our group. That being said, we encourage people to share their personal opinions and experiences in FPF in a way that you think would be helpful as part of broader dialogue with your community.
